University of Manchester

The University of Manchester is a popular and renowned public research University located in Manchester, England. This famous university operates multiple popular cultural assets including Manchester museum, Whitworth Art Gallery, John Rylands library, the Tabley house collection and the Jodrell bank observatory. In 2004 this University was formed including two different institutions like the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and the Victoria University of Manchester.

The University of Manchester is the third largest University in the UK as per total enrollment every year more than 90000 undergraduate students complete their applications under this college. This University is a member of multiple popular organizations like Russell group, N8 group, US-based universities research Association.

Basically it is not a campus University but there are two different campus are located under this university the first one is North Campus or Sackville Street campus and the second one is South Campus or Oxford Road campus but this names are not officially announced by the University authority the most notable buildings that located in the Oxford Road campus are Stephen Joseph studio, Samuel Alexander building, Grade ll listed building, and home of the school of arts, languages, and cultures. In Sackville Street is basically known as Sackville Street building made by the prime minister of England, Arthur Balfour in 1902.

The University of Manchester was divided into three different faculties including Faculty of Biology, medicine, and health, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Faculty of humanities. In the Faculty of Science and Engineering multiple departments are available like chemical engineering and analytical science, computer science electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical, Aerospace, and civil engineering. On the other hand the faculty of humanity includes different subjects like languages and cultures, art history, visual studies, Ancient History, drama, English and American studies, history ,modern languages, museology, music, religions and theology, and others.

On the other hand, the University of Manchester library is the first largest non legal deposit library that located in the United Kingdom and also it is the third largest academic library after Oxford and Cambridge library. The University of Manchester has also some historical and popular assets like the Manchester museum and the whitworth art gallery.

As per ARWU ranking, in 2022 the University of Manchester was ranked at number 38 in the world. As per QS ranking in 2021 the University of Manchester became the 27th best university in the world. This famous University has a huge academic publishing house that is known as Manchester University Press. This publishing house commonly publishes academic monographs, textbooks, journals, and others.

The University of Manchester Student’s Union is the United Kingdom’s largest Students Union. Basically this student union was formed on one October 2004 including two student unions. First one is UMIST and the second one is the University of Manchester Union. Basically this student union has no president because it is run by an 8 member executive team.

Many Nobel Prize winners and popular celebrities have worked or studied at Manchester University some of them are John Dalton, Ernest Rutherford, George de Hevesy, Alexander Todd, Robert Robinson, Melvin Calvin, Sir Arthur Lewis and others.
